Go to a home improvement store and buy birch plywood and shutter room divider. They can be sold in large slices, but they can be cut to the right size for you in the store. Slip your trimmed panels, including corners, to free them from any unevenness that may cling to clothes or ugly. Rub the dust with a soft cloth.
Determine the type of finish you want to use on your panels. Consider where the screen will be used and the existing interior. You can try a decoupage technique with nature scenes or favorite photos or a faux-finish painting technique such as sponge or remover. The soft-looking shabby chic would be suitable for a bedroom. To do this, plug all three panels up against a basement wall, and paint a side and edges with primer. Allow the panels to dry for 24 hours, and then use a layer of paint. Let it dry.
